Screw-down nut blank

Load-carrying nut around a mill screw-down or roll-gap adjustment screw.

Provides the blank for the specified adjustment nut and its agreed machining operations.

Manufacturing & delivery form
Block or cylindrical casting blank with agreed premachining; finished threads specified separately.

Blank supply does not establish adjustment-system accuracy. C86300 remains a material candidate until approved for the actual nut, load and lubrication conditions.

Material candidates

UNS C86300 Manganese brass / manganese bronze

Candidate for specified heavily loaded sliding parts and nut blanks.

A high-strength brass family, not tin bronze. Confirm the counterface and lubrication; no universal wear-life claim applies.

UNS C95400 Aluminium bronze

Candidate for drawing-defined loaded sliding and wear components.

Review mating material, lubrication and supply condition. C95400 and C95800 are distinct grades.

Confirm the drawing, actual duty, material standard and manufacturing condition. Material substitutions require customer approval, and supply scope is agreed after component review.

Component RFQ requirements

Nut definition: Body envelope, weight estimate, thread design and engagement.
Mating screw: Screw material, thread form, alignment and specified backlash.
Load & lubrication: Adjustment loads, cycle, lubricant and actual part temperature.
Machining plan: Stock allowance, datums, thread-machining responsibility and inspection.
Material & acceptance: Specified alloy and standard, supply condition, drawing revision, quantity, inspection criteria and required records.
Supply form: Block or cylindrical casting blank with agreed premachining; finished threads specified separately.

Confirm blank, pre-machined or finished-wheel delivery. Tooth cutting, gear accuracy and final inspection require explicit agreement.

UNS C90700 Tin bronze

Candidate for gear and worm-wheel blanks.

Confirm the mating gear, lubrication and machining scope. An alloy designation does not establish finished gear accuracy.

UNS C90500 Tin bronze

Candidate for drawing-defined gear blanks and selected lubricated components.

Confirm the governing standard, casting form and duty. C90500 and C90700 are distinct grades.

Confirm the drawing, actual duty, material standard and manufacturing condition. Material substitutions require customer approval, and supply scope is agreed after component review.

Blank structure: Hub/rim arrangement, bore, outside diameter and web.
Machining allowance: Datums, turning allowance and downstream tooth-machining scope.
Mating drive: Worm definition, connection geometry and counterface material.
Operating conditions: Load, speed, lubricant and required hardness condition.
Material & acceptance: Specified alloy and standard, supply condition, drawing revision, quantity, inspection criteria and required records.
Supply form: Cast solid or ring blank with agreed premachining; tooth cutting specified separately.
