COMPONENT GUIDE

Fire department connection body

External fire-service supply inlet to a building water system

Provides the drawing-defined inlet, outlet and internal passage of an FDC body or subassembly.

Manufacturing & delivery form
Complex-passage casting with connection machining.

FDC designs can use cast brass or ductile iron. Confirm the actual drawing and material; listed copper-alloy grades require separate design approval.

Material candidates

Customer specified Approved material to be defined

No default copper-casting alloy is established for this component.

Obtain the approved metal, seal and coating specifications from the equipment owner before assessing a manufacturing route.

UNS C83600 Leaded red brass

A candidate for a valve disc or clapper only when the approved drawing specifies this alloy.

An application candidate, not a confirmed equipment bill of materials or available Zhiren grade. Do not default to potable-water use.

UNS C87600 Cast copper-silicon alloy

A drawing-led candidate for selected connection and valve components.

Not interchangeable with wrought brass grades. The customer must approve the exact alloy, manufacturing form and service.

Confirm the drawing, actual duty, material standard and manufacturing condition. Material substitutions require customer approval, and supply scope is agreed after component review.

Component RFQ requirements

Inlet and outlet layout
Identify the external supply function, branch count, orientation, outlet direction and approved drawing.
Local interfaces
Specify the exact fire-service connection and pipe-thread standards, engagement and mating parts.
Clapper and seals
Define internal closure arrangement, hinge/seat geometry, sealing interfaces and included subassembly parts.
Mechanical and pressure duty
State wall sections, connection loading, environmental finish and pressure/leak-test criteria.
Material and release
Identify approved casting alloy, delivery condition, batch records and complete-FDC approval responsibility.

Start with your drawing, specified alloy and quantity. Include the required delivery condition and acceptance records so the manufacturing and inspection scope can be reviewed.
